Prince Harry Breaks Military Rules By Sporting A Beard While In Uniform

Prince Harry has been accused of “letting down” members of Britain’s armed services by sporting a beard at an event to honor the country’s war dead. The facial hair is in breach of military codes for servicemen in uniform.
Despite being retired from active service since 2015, hirsute Harry donned his Blues and Royals officer’s uniform for a Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph in central London – but his failure to present a fresh face has drawn a strong reaction from some.

A serving member in the elite cavalry regiment told the Daily Mail: "Prince Harry is letting us all down. There's no place for beards in the Queen's cavalry. He should have shaved it off for such an important day."
The service, held annually to commemorate servicemen who died in Britain’s wars, was attended by the Queen, the Colonel-in-chief of the Blues and Royals cavalry regiment, as well as Princes Charles, William, Harry, and Andrew. All with the exception of Afghan war veteran Harry were cleanly shaven.
Armed forces rules forbid all beards except in cases where there is a religious exemption. Sikhs, for instance, cannot cut their hair and so are permitted to keep their beards while in uniform, according to the RAF handbook which is representative of other services apart from the Royal Navy, which allows beards but not mustaches. The manual for the Army Training Regiment also states that personnel are required to shave “everyday regardless of facial hair growth.”

The British Army reportedly relaxed its rules governing facial hair for soldiers serving in Afghanistan. The beard in Afghan culture is seen as a sign of virility and authority, and the loosening of the rules was seen as an effort to blend in with local men.
For some Twitter users, however, the controversy was little more than a storm in a teacup.

Man with world's longest mustache has been growing it since 1970

Texas Church Shooting: Mother killed while trying to protect children…

“People always compliment my mustache,” Singh said in an interview with Guinness World Records. “Both mustache and beard have always been a symbol of pride for men, so I’ve been able to earn a name, fame and respect for my mustache.”

He explained he has been growing it since 1970, and was awarded the title in 2010. He has not been beaten since.

Singh said he spends two and a half hours every day grooming his beard but only washes his mustache once every two weeks, despite having a complicated routine for both areas of his facial hair.

“I use various herbal oils to help maintain the health of my mustache. I massage my beard with a concoction of olive, mustard and coconut oil,” he explained. “Once I have done the mustache, I wash my beard with water infused with fuller’s earth (clay material) that I keep overnight.”

Ever since winning the title, Singh said he’s gained recognition from noteworthy politicians, including the president of India.

Why Can't Some LADs Grow A Proper, Non-Patchy, Beard?

One of the many common dreams young men have is to grow a decent beard. That and own their own horsey. What? Just me. Well, jog on then.

However, back in the day, decent facial topiary was the sort of thing sported by Russian '80s athletes or Hollywood action heroes killing henchmen by the dozen with utter disregard for the Geneva Convention or the wives and families (and pension payments) of those lost.

Nowadays, though, every one has a beard. It's become 'normal'. It's impossible to turn a corner without encountering a barista, digital marketing professional, or aspiring taxidermist boasting a chin decoration. However, the biggest gripe is with LADs who clearly cannot grow a proper beard. They look like they smeared Vaseline on their cheeks before face-planting on a barbershop floor.

People are often of the opinion that if you're dealt the patchy beard card, it's best to remain clean-shaven. The question is, why can't you grow it properly? Why do you only get sideburns, a stringy mustache and a wisp of chin fluff?

Well, sorry, but your egos are about to take a hit - your hormones are playing up. That's right, your body is letting you down BIG TIME.

A male chemical that develops sexual characteristics called dihydrotestosterone is responsible for your pathetic face patches. It's synthesized from testosterone and has a profound effect on the way your beard grows. The more sensitive you are to testosterone, the thicker your beard grows.

And your sensitivity to testosterone is down to genetics. So if your dad is middle-aged and still struggles to get past the stage of a pre-pubescent goat, then you can thank him for your troubles.
Despite your shortcomings, there are a few things you can do. Not a lot, though. Forget what you've been told, shaving often and against the grain doesn't work. If you want your beard to reach its full potential, you'll have to let it grow out a while before shaving it, and then repeat. After doing this a few times, it will begin to grow into the Grizzly Adams monster you crave (maybe).

The key to this technique is patience. Just wait it out. And while you do, make sure you take care of your skin: Exfoliate, moisturize, stick cucumbers on your eyes, whatever. When it comes to shaving, avoid sculpting what you have into any sort of style. You're not a Just For Men model, you're Patch Adams and you can't afford to jeopardize your good work with an inconsistent chinstrap.
And if all else fails, there are medical alternatives, including surgical transplants. Speaking to LADbible, Dr Thomy Kouremada-Zioga, Hair Loss Specialist and Transplant Surgeon at The Private Clinic of Harley Street, said: "The best advice I can give is to seek the advice of a specialist and to not take medication that has not been prescribed. Depending on the case, the doctor may recommend supplements for low DHT (a hormone related to hair growth) or to follow hormone therapy.
"Of note here is that there are no commercially available preparations of pure DHT, so hormone therapy consists of giving testosterone to raise DHT levels. In addition, some lifestyle measures are very effective at restoring hormone balance, such as getting enough exercise, weight loss, reduce or eliminate alcohol consumption and eat more healthy fats - i.e., nuts, seeds, coconut and olive oil...
"Capacity to grow a beard has nothing to do with manliness, virility or testosterone levels, it is a matter of genetics."
So, basically, if you're unhappy with your facial hair, don't blame yourself. Blame your parents.

Should you let your beard grow?

Throughout history and in different cultures according to the beard gurus, men with facial hair were attributed wisdom, sexual potency or a high social status, but also the lack of hygiene or refinement and a disposition eccentric In some religions men should wear full beards. The ancient Greeks considered the beard as a symbol or sign of virility, and had acquired an almost sanctified meaning. It was only shaved as a sign of mourning. The Spartans, who showed signs of cowardice, were punished by the shaving of their beards.

Currently, facial hair has points in favor and against. For example, some say that with a beard men tend to look older, moody or even more aggressive than a shaved man.

According to some friends, the beard makes you more intimidating in front of rivals of the same sex. Aesthetically it is beneficial for those men who do not have a big jaw or have a small jaw since it creates harmony in the face compensating the defects. In addition, it is a style that is fashionable. There are many celebrities who wear beards today. You should try the beard and then decide, but keep in mind that having a beard means care and spending more money than shaving, since you have to visit the barber regularly.

  1. When you start to let your beard grow, you can pass as careless, so try to start this process during the holiday period.
  2. When the beard is already becoming noticeable, the skin of your face begins to itch a lot. Avoid constant scratching as it can irritate the skin and cause ingrown hairs or other infections that can eventually inhibit the growth of the beard. Buy at the nearest pharmacy a cream, there are many that are used at night before sleeping and help refresh.
  3. In the first three or four weeks of growth of the beard, do not shave at all. Not all facial hair grows at the same time and in a few weeks the hair of the beard is going to get thicker, allowing you to shape the style of beard you want more easily.
  4. When you manage to let your beard grow, it’s time to choose a good style that goes according to your personality and type of face.
  5. You can do the style yourself, but if you want it to be perfect, turn to a professional barber because it has the tools and experience to make it fit.
